FROM THE OFFICE OF THE SUPERINTENDENT
Let me start by thanking the students, staff and community of Smackover-Norphlet School District for a great start to the year! It is awesome to see all the great things going on in our district! I also want to take a moment to update you on a few changes that will be occurring next year.
Recently, the decision was made that Mrs. Henderson will lead our efforts to grow our preschool program beginning this summer. We are thankful for Mrs. Henderson’s time as Smackover High School principal, her experiences, and her ability to build relationships. Her leadership qualities will be a tremendous asset to our preschool moving forward. We are also excited that Mrs. Henderson will continue to lead the high school for the remainder of this school year and through the 2020 graduation ceremony in May.
As we move towards these changes, I’m also excited to name our current high school assistant principal, Mrs. O’Guinn, as the new Smackover High School principal beginning June 2020. Mrs. O’Guinn is a firm, fair leader who brings principal experience to our staff as well.
As an instructional leader, her past experiences have included bringing a campus up from an academic rating of a D to a C school within a year. These changes also give both Mrs. O’Guinn and Mrs. Henderson time to make this a smooth transition for staff and students at both campuses.
We have a supportive community and great educators in our district. Together, we can make the kind of difference in our kids’ lives that will last a lifetime! As always, please don’t hesitate to call or email if you have any questions we can help you with!
