Dear Buckaroo Community,

I hope during these unique times you have been able to spend quality time with your loved ones and develop a greater appreciation of family, friends, and the community we live in just as I have. Although these times have brought uncertainty and concerns, they have also brought an opportunity to enjoy your family and be thankful for what we have. For our school district, it has brought our teams together to work on the next course of action and make adjustments that will be best for our students and staff in the coming days.

  • Our food service department continues to work hard and provide meals for students in need.
  • Our maintenance, custodial, and transportation departments have been working hard to disinfect and thoroughly clean our buildings and buses for when we do return.
  • Our administrative staff has been meeting routinely to discuss instructional delivery and ideas to best serve our parents and students during these unique times.

As the information that schools would be closed through April 17 came out today, our administrative teams were in meetings identifying virtual delivery options for our students moving forward. I want to assure you that during these times, the Smackover-Norphlet School District will be working hard to help our parents and students and will keep you updated as we receive information.

Beginning Monday, March 30, our campuses and central office will begin office hours from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm to answer phones, conduct necessary business, and provide hard copies of student work if needed.

Campuses have already begun reaching out to students and parents regarding electronic devices and more information will be coming soon about our virtual instructional plans moving forward.

We will have information posted to the blog and website by April 2nd, that will give a detailed plan of how to access the programs being utilized, who to contact if there are questions, and hard copy options.

As we tackle this situation as a community, state, and team, I’m very encouraged by the educators and community I’m a part of. Thank you for all you do.

Please take the precautions that the state and federal authorities are suggesting and know that our Smackover-Norphlet Buckaroo team will be here for you and your students!

God Bless and Go Bucks!
