The Smackover-Norphlet School District is offering two different instructional options while schools are closed due to COVID-19. One option is a digital option utilizing Google Hangouts, Google Classroom, and Khan Academy. The second option is a non-digital option that is supported with instructional programming from Arkansas PBS (Television Public Broadcast System-Channel 2) for academic opportunities.
What is Arkansas PBS?
Arkansas PBS has changed its regular television programming to provide age-appropriate educational content for students to enjoy and use for learning. There will not be any work that needs to be completed related to the television programming. After your student views the programs, we encourage you to have a discussion about what they learned from the programs viewed each day.
Television programming will be aired at the following times. (You may set your DVR to record these programs if the times do not work for you and your family.)
Included with the packet is a recommended daily schedule to use. Please remember that this is a flexible schedule. You are welcome to move things around to best meet the needs of your family.
To support your child in math, we have provided support materials for families.
Families are also encouraged to create a free Khan Academy account for each of their children. Thirty minutes of daily math practice on Khan Academy will really provide a boost for your child.
Hard Copy Packets
Hard copy packets will be distributed tomorrow (Friday, April 3) from 9 am – 12 pm on each campus.
Parents will only need one hard copy packet for the remainder of the school year.
