Smackover-Norphlet School District is excited to introduce you to our school’s STEM program, an innovative educational initiative that empowers students with a dynamic learning experience in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. This program equips students with the skills and knowledge necessary for success in today’s rapidly evolving world. 

WHAT IS STEM?


STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics - four critical disciplines that drive innovation, shape industries, and pave the way for future advancements. Our STEM program offers a comprehensive and integrated curriculum designed to prepare students for both higher education and future careers in STEM-related fields.

Holistic Learning - Our program provides a holistic approach to education, integrating science, technology, engineering, and mathematics to create a well-rounded educational experience.

Hands-On Exploration - Students engage in hands-on activities and projects that promote practical understanding, critical thinking, and creative problem-solving skills. 

Collaboration - Our STEM curriculum emphasizes teamwork and collaboration, fostering essential skills for critical thinking, effective communication, and project development. 

Strong Foundation - By focusing on these core subjects, students build a strong foundation that is essential for success in various modern industries and technological advancements. 

PROGRAM OFFERINGS


Keyboarding/Keycode - This exciting course introduces 8th grade students to the fundamentals of keyboarding, coding, and programming. This course helps to lay the groundwork for a deeper understanding of technology and its applications. 

Medical Detectives and Design & Modeling - In these engaging courses, students delve into the worlds of medical investigation and engineering design, igniting their curiosity and nurturing their problem-solving abilities.

STEM - This engaging and hands-on course is offered to students in 6th through 8th grade. In this course, students explore the STEM concepts, within the world they live in, through hands-on activities and extend their knowledge to solve real-world problems. 

PROGRAM LOGISTICS


The STEM program runs for students in grades 6-8 and consists of one 50-minute period per school day. This dedicated time allows students to immerse themselves in the program’s enriching activities without interrupting their core studies. 

We are thrilled to offer this exceptional opportunity for your child to engage with STEM education and explore the exciting realms of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Through our STEM program, your child will gain the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in our ever-evolving world.
