The Smackover-Norphlet School District is proud to highlight the achievements and impact of its band program, which continues to enrich student life through music, performance, and community involvement. The Battlin' Buckaroo Marching Band plays an integral role in school spirit and pride, performing at every home football game and traveling with the team to away games. These high-energy performances help create a vibrant atmosphere and foster a sense of unity among students and fans.

Throughout the year, the band competes in various events, including contests at UA-Monticello and regional concerts. The group consistently earns Superior and Excellent ratings, reflecting their dedication and musical excellence. Students also challenge themselves by auditioning for the ASBOA All-Region Band, striving to earn a chair in the prestigious first or second region ensembles.

The holiday season brings additional excitement, with the band earning top honors in the El Dorado Christmas Parade year after year. Their annual Christmas concert has become a cherished tradition, bringing festive cheer to the Smackover community. In the spring, the band participates in ASBOA concert assessments and competitions such as the Battle of the Bands in Fordyce, where they have consistently earned Superior ratings across all categories.

Beyond competition and performance, the band program helps students build discipline, confidence, and teamwork—skills that carry over into every part of their academic and personal lives. The year concludes with a heartfelt Band Banquet, where seniors are celebrated for their leadership and commitment.
